One of the most important steps in life is choosing a profession. After all, doing something that interests you and brings you joy is one of the conditions for feeling fulfilled in life.

The choice of profession is perhaps the most important factor in how your future life will turn out and how you will feel in it. After all, everyone wants not only to earn money but also to realise their potential and to get real satisfaction from their work.

This is one of the most responsible decisions a person makes in life.

Choosing a profession, like any choice, means making a decision among a large number of alternatives while taking various factors into account. There is a saying: "Happiness is when you want to go to work in the morning and want to go home after work".

For Ukraine, preserving and developing its own human capital is an extremely urgent challenge, because the country is experiencing deep systemic unemployment, which has become even worse because of the war that Russia unleashed in Ukraine. On the one hand, there is a brain drain abroad that has reached catastrophic proportions; on the other, a labour shortage among Ukrainian employers (both commercial and public).

Career guidance should be carried out at all age stages, but early youth is the most sensitive period for developing a student's readiness for professional self-determination.

Career guidance should serve one goal: to activate the student and to develop in them a desire to choose a profession independently, taking into account the knowledge they have gained about themselves, their abilities and the prospects for developing them. Parents, teachers and the school psychologist should help them with this.
